Track Name: Just Letting You Know
I still drive by your house sometimes but choose not to look/ your laughter hurts my ears sometimes but I pretend that time is all it took/ and I've been spending day and night searching in the sidewalk cracks for upsides/ all my strings are coming loose/ held together by the Grand Theft Autumn b-side/
Because I'm still busy lying/ but there's no one here to listen/ and you're still probably crying/ but there's no one there to hear it/
I can't let you go/
I'm done wasting words/ the silence gives me closure/ I know that you got hurt/ but I refuse to look over my shoulder/ do you let him comfort you/ do you let him see you cry/ did you put a hole right through the wall that you built when it was you and I/
You're still probably crying/ but here's there with you to listen/
I held you more than you held me but isn't that the same old story/ awkward for you and bewildering for me/ lost on a strange and distant street/
Because I'm still busy lying/ when there's no one here to hear it/ and you're still probably crying/ but he's there with you to hear it/ you finally let him in/
I wrote you songs you said you liked/ Sunset Park at midnight/ I waited for April/ good riddance
Track Name: Midwestern Weather
Footsteps in the snow/ blue lips so cold/ things are going to get worse before they get better/ tied down and fed a dose of midwestern weather/
This streak of good luck doesn't mean much/ optimism is nothing but a crutch/ and every sappy story in this town has got to be a lie/ missed my happy ending/ let's give it one more try/
Wasting time while the cards are stacked against me/ all this pressure in my head is perfect agony/ I'll walk through these halls and fake a smile/ but every day is a downward spiral/
Track Name: Steps
All of this baggage brings me to floor/ I keep forgetting what it is I was looking for/ the ceiling's dripping water on my proud but empty head/ the paint has faded into gray but the walls were blue back then/
but stay calm because/
This is just a test/ I'm still taking steps/ tell myself at least I'm not alone/ my heart's still beating in my chest/ I haven't lost that yet/ and I can learn to live with broken bones/
Doubt every decision because I've got no confidence/ girl of my dreams left me because she just wanted to be friends/ sinking underneath all of the stress I give myself/ swimming's not an option, at least as far as I can tell/
Track Name: Yours Truly
Hey there honey, dry your eyes/ I hardly think there's reason to cry/ I'd ask you to search your memory/ for all the times you blew up on me/ it pushed me so much further away and/ I know that fear was at the heart of your mistreatment/ guilt and shame/ and all the other games you play/
I don't care what it meant to you/ I think I've had enough of what we put each other through/ and now we're through/ forget predestination/ I'll make my own decisions/ I won't do what you say I'll do, and I/ lied when I said that I don't regret it/ this was the biggest mistake that I ever made/ tell me it's fine but hate my decisions/ call me a liar, unfair expectations/ tears on your face/ to manipulate yours truly/
Wet your eyes/ pretend to be contrite/ but we both know you've never felt no guilt at all/ call me blind/ say we're meant to be, well, if that's true/ I'm going skydiving with no 'chute/
It seems my biggest flaw/ is not seeing all the writing on the wall/ you made me take the blame/ for all the stupid little things/ and I believed it was all my fault/
Go brainwash someone else/ because you're one less thing for me to worry about/
I don't care what it meant to you/ I'm pretty sure I've had enough of what we put each other through/ and now I'm through/ forget predestination/ I'll make my own decisions/ I won't do what you say I'll do, and I/ lied when I said that I don't regret it/ you were the biggest mistake that I ever made/ you tell me it's fine but hate my decisions/ call me a liar, unfair expectations/ tears on your face/ to manipulate yours truly/
Good riddance
Track Name: A Song for Robert Frost
Find the most fulfilling part of your comfort zone/ cast an anchor and tie it tight around your ankle bones/ don't be afraid of an empty house and a loveless marriage/ the only thing to fear is dying alone/
Buy the car, the suit, the tie, get your affairs in order/ play it safe, play it straight, don't stray to the border/ dust the trophies on the shelf/ here's to you and your good health/ know your limits and pretend to know yourself/
Everything that I've been taught is everything I didn't want to know/ impress on me your values/ pour me into your mold/ roads diverge in a yellow wood but it doesn't matter which you take/ both have wooden safety rails/ and yards and yards of caution tape/
Don't be anything that we don't say that you can be/ don't be anything
Don't be anything other than a success/ don't be anything
Settle down, settle in/ get comfortable in your dead skin/ call your folks on holidays/ tell them everything's okay/ keep it clean, don't make a scene/ glue your eyes to the TV/ Tell yourself it's okay to change your dreams/
Do you remember when your eyes were bright?/ do you remember when the door was open wide?/ the years ahead of us are still an open book/ the ending's in the back but I refuse to look
